MADISON, Wis (WSAU)  - The Wisconsin State Supreme Court upheld Act 10, the state law that limits the collective bargaining rights of state employees. House where three River Falls children were murdered may go into foreclosure

RIVER FALLS, WI (WTAQ) - The house where three children were murdered in River Falls in July may soon go into foreclosure.

The Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union has filed a foreclosure suit in St. Croix County against Aaron Schaffhausen, who’s charged with killing his 3 young daughters in the home on July 10th before trying to burn it down.

The new lawsuit said Schaffhausen took out a 30-year mortgage in March, after he divorced his wife Jessica. The credit union said he only made one payment, and nothing since August – and he still owes $172,000. He’s been in jail since the July 10th murders.

Schaffhausen’s family recently put the house up for sale. But a real estate firm canceled the listing after Jessica wrote an impassioned plea on Facebook not to sell the home. She feared that her ex-husband would profit – and she said it could delay his homicide case, because he might lose his qualification for a tax-funded public defender.

The 35-year-old Schaffhausen was living in Minot North Dakota when he got permission from his ex-wife to see the girls alone – and then allegedly proceeded to stab and slash Amara, Sophia, and Cecilia Schaffhausen to death.

Their father is still trying to decide whether to plead insanity. Another court hearing in the case is set for Monday.

A month-long trial is scheduled for April.
