MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - Marshfield’s 42.9-million dollar city budget for fiscal year 2013 was unanimously approved at Tuesday night’s Common Council meeting.

The Council voted to hold the city’s tax rate for next year at $8.95 per $1,000 of assessed property value. City Administrator Steve Barg says the tax rate can stay constant due in part to the fact that the city will raise additional revenue because of building improvements and new construction in the city.

The city was able to freeze tax rates, and no city personnel positions needed to be cut, in large part because of new construction and building improvements taking place in the city.
