MARATHON CITY, WI  (WSAU)  -  Last week, Marathon City schools received a $10,000 grant from Monsanto. The school has decided what to do with the money.  The grant will be used to purchase 25 Apple I-Pad computers for use in the agriculture, science, and math classrooms.

Ag and science teacher Colleen Geurink says the iPads will be used to link science and mathematics concepts to everyday life. She says the grant makes it possible for them to provide students the opportunity to use relevant technology in the classroom on a daily basis. Geurink thanks the farmers that nominated Marathon City, which is one of a handful of Wisconsin schools to receive the Monsanto grant.

The Monsanto program is called America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education. Over one thousand schools applied for the grants. Only twelve Wisconsin districts received a grant award.
