Friday night promises to be one of the biggest nights of Lee Brice 's career so far. The former Clemson Tigers football player will return to the Clemson University campus in South Carolina to perform his first headlining show in an arena. He's also written and recorded a new rally song for the Tigers called "Orange Empire" the team is now playing as they take the field for each game.
It all started when Lee made a point to plan his tour schedule so he could go see one of Clemson's games this season. His manager and booking agent got back to him with the news that Clemson wanted him to perform a big show at the school's Littlejohn Arena.
Lee recalls, "I was like, 'Arena? You know, that's 7,500 people. We've never headlined an arena before.' But they said they wanted to do it, so we thought about it. So, we decided to do that."
After the invitation to play the arena, Clemson's athletic department got in touch with Lee asking him to write a song to play while the team took the field. Lee came up with "Orange Empire," and he says it's blowing up among Clemson fans.
"Now I'm really looking forward to going there, playing this arena and hopefully maybe even opening up the show with this 'Orange Empire,'" Lee reveals.
Of course, Lee will be sticking around to see Clemson take on South Carolina on Saturday too.
