EAGLE RIVER, WI (WSAU) - If you are driving today, don’t be surprised if you see southbound trucks with snow on top of the trailers.
Snow and blowing snow is creating some hazardous travel conditions in northern Wisconsin. Many areas set record warm temperatures on Thanksgiving. Just a day later, Vilas County is under a snow advisory, with up to 4 inches expected southeast of Eagle River and as much as nine inches of snow in some places. The wind is also causing some drifting.
Parts of Bayfield and Douglas counties received 12 inches of snow since late Thursday night. Parts of Minnesota were also hit hard by the storm.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says roads in the northern half of the state are snow-covered, with large areas of slippery stretches.
A winter storm warning for the Lake Superior snowbelt remains in effect until 4:00 p.m. Friday.
