WIAA-UW Agree On State Tournament Extensions

MADISON, WI (WSAU) The W-I-A-A will keep holding its state high school football and boys’ basketball championships at U-W Madison. The two announced an agreement this morning which extends their partnership through the spring of 2020.

The deal also includes the state golf, softball, and wrestling events that have traditionally been held at the U-W. But it does not include girls’ basketball, which moves to the Resch Center in Green Bay for at least the next two years due to scheduling conflicts at the U-W’s Kohl Center. Also, the state high school tennis, swimming-and-diving championships will stay at U-W Madison – but they’re not officially part of the new agreement.

Today’s deal was especially good news for those who wanted to see the boys’ tournament stay in Wisconsin’s Capital City, where it’s been since 1920.
