WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) -- A 23-year-old Stevens Point man convicted of killing another man while driving almost two years ago will spend 10 years in prison and then seven more years on probation.
John French was convicted of 2nd degree reckless homicide two months ago in Wood County. He ran a stopsign while texting, and collided with an eastbound car driven by Robert R. Walker. Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.
This happened about a week after Wisconsin’s law prohibiting texting and driving took effect.
