MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -  The Marshfield man accused of threatening to burn a pregnant woman after pouring gas on her will be in court Monday. 23-year-old Tyler Scott Ress faces a total of eleven felony charges. Police requested charges October 12th at the completion of their investigation.

Police say Ress tried to kill Carrie Lynn Mayhone by assaulting and strangling her while confining her. Along with the threat of burning Mayhone after soaking her in gasoline, Ress is also accused of punching the victim in the abdomen in an attempt to harm the unborn baby. This allegedly occurred while Ress was restricting Mayhone’s ability to escape during the September 29th incident.

Ress has seven charges for recklessly endangering safety, strangulation and suffocation, false imprisonment, Abortion of an unborn child by another, Battery, Disorderly Conduct, and Contact with a victim after a domestic abuse arrest. Ress also faces four more charges for possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of controlled substances, and for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Online court records show Tyler Ress has a history of similar issues. In August, Ress was released from Marathon County’s jail after serving 71 days for a domestic incident where he violated a court order that included a firearms restriction issued just under a year ago.

Ress is incarcerated in the Wood County Jail. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance on the eleven new charges Monday, November 5th at 9:00 a.m. before judge Todd Wolf.
