UNDATED (WSAU) – A freshman congressman from central Wisconsin wants another term in Washington.
Weston Republican Sean Duffy filed his nomination papers Wednesday with the Government Accountability Board to seek re-election. His campaign said Duffy gathered double the number of required signatures and got support from all 25 counties in his district.
“It is clear the people of northern and central Wisconsin resoundingly support Sean Duffy's effort to bring the ax to Washington spending,” campaign manager Justin Richards said.
Former Democratic state Senator Pat Kreitlow also says he gathered double the number of signatures needed to get on the ballot. Kreitlow accused Duffy of protecting Wall Street profits and tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.
“I'm running for Congress because it is time Washington started to do what is right for people who have to work for a living,” Kreitlow said in a statement.
Republican Mike Krsiean has said he is gathering signatures but it's not clear whether he's turned in his nomination papers to election officials.
