STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) Plans for preserving part of the CenterPoint Marketplace Mall in Stevens Point are being reconsidered. The original plan was to keep the center portion of the mall as retail space. But tearing down the area surrounding the center is much more expensive than demolishing the entire structure.
The city condemned the property earlier this year. Most of the land will become a new downtown campus for Mid-State Technical College. M-S-T-C will move into the portion of the mall that used to be J-C Pennys.
The city will make a final decision on redeveloping the property in about a month.
