THERESA, WI (WTAQ) - Federal officials have recommended $64,000 in fines against a Dodge County plant where a worker was killed and another suffered from chemical exposure.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has announced a dozen safety violations against Vivid Image Incorporated of Theresa.
55-year-old Roman Torres of Horicon was killed last November 28th, and his 65-year-old supervisor Thomas Persha of Horicon was hospitalized.
Dodge County authorities said the two were mixing compounds when they were overcome by fumes, and the work created a ventilation hazard.
OSHA said the workers were not wearing respiratory protection while working with toluene – and they were exposed beyond peak levels. The agency said Vivid Image committed two willful violations involving the chemical.
