APPLETON, Wis (WSAU) A pentagon investigation has determined that an Appleton soldier who died in Afghanistan took his own life. 25-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Garrick Eppinger died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound last September 17th,
He died while serving at Bagram Air Base. He had a des job as a supply specialist at a munitions post.
Even though he died last fall, there was a delay releasing his body until the army investigation was complete. Family members were informed of the army medical examiner's report on Monday.
Eppinger served with the Army Reserve's 395th Ordinance Company based in Appleton.
