RHINELANDER, Wis. (WSAU) - A change of charges for a Rhinelander businessman.

46 year old John Hildebrand of Rhinelander had been facing 16 charges related to the sale of methamphetamine like products known as bath salts. Hildebrand owns a construction firm and Discreet Pleasures, a adult store.

At a hearing this morning, Oneida County Circuit Judge Patrick O'Melia accepted a prosecution motion to dismiss those 16 charges and have them replaced with a new complaint. The new complaint alleges five counts of distributing hazardous substances and one count of misdemeanor possessing drug paraphenalia.

At prior hearings, defense attorney David Penn said it was unclear at the time of sale whether the substances were illegal under law at that time.

Hildebrand will next back in court in June.
