Love is never easy even back in 19th century Russia. The first trailer and poster for director Joe Wright's Anna Karenina has been unveiled, featuring high-society aristocrat Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley) smack dab in the middle of a life-changing affair with the oh-so charming Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson). The problem is, she's already married to a high class government official Alexei Karenin (Jude Law).
So as she struggles to straddle the line between finding true love and following society's expectations, a vast amount of trouble ensues. There's passion, dancing, adultery, and a fully-bearded Jude Law (what's not to love, right?). And while this may sound like it has all the makings of a boring, run-of-the-mill period piece about love vs. honor, the visual effects are absolutely gorgeous to the point where you can't help but be enthralled at least a little bit.
