WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau's Man of Honor Society is offering you a chance to pay your respects to American veterans this weekend.

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute made its way into Wausau last night and has been set up near the VFW on River Driver. Man of Honor Society president Jim Fust says this is a chance for people who might get out to Washington to see the memorials. “Everyone has a different idea of what it is to see the Wall and see these memorials.” In addition to the traveling Vietnam Wall, there's also memorials to World War II, Iraq and Afghanistan and 9/11.

The opening ceremony starts today at 11 am with a blessing by Native American tribes, followed by the posting of the colors by local police and fire units. Fust says anyone is welcome to come. “Well have this open 24 hours a day until the closing ceremony on Sunday.”
