MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WTAQ) - A 76-year-old peace advocate who grew up on a farm in southwest Wisconsin has been murdered in Minneapolis. Police said they found the body of Lois Swenson in her bedroom around noon on Wednesday, after her friends said they had not heard from her. Police have not released many details, but the medical examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide. Swenson is from Arena in Iowa County. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune said she taught sixth grade in the Twin Cities’ suburb of Robbinsdale – and she took leaves to learn how people lived in various places including Mexico, New Zealand, Africa, and Central America. Her friends said Swenson fought for peace, ran community gardens, and shrugged off advice to move from her inner-city neighborhood.
