UNDATED (WSAU) A school bus driver who showed up for work with alcohol in his system was fired yesterday. First Student met with the driver after suspending him at the end of the school year. The D.C. Everest School District has a clause in their bus contract that they can ban drivers from carrying their students if there are safety concerns. The district was prepared to act if the driver wasn't dismissed. On June 4th the driver smelled of alcohol when he arrived at Evergreen Elementary School to take students on a field trip. A teacher complained, and the school principal notified the bus company. The driver's blood-alcohol level was .02 -- the legal limit for a commercial driver. The driver's name hasn't been released. They'd worked for the bus company for five years and had a clean safety record.
