GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAU-Woodchucks) – A solo shot by Chevas Numata and a three-run blast by Brian Smith helped lift the Woodchucks over the Green Bay Bullfrogs 9-2 Saturday.
Woodchuck starter Luke Moran held the Bullfrogs scoreless over six innings to win his first game of the season. He gave up only hit and struck out eight.
The Bullfrogs finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh off of reliever Zach Wendorf. With runners on the corners and nobody out, Ransom LaLonde grounded into a double play, but Taylor Johnson was able to score from third and erase the ‘Chucks’ shutout.
The two teams will play the rubber game of the series today at 1:05 in Green Bay.
