WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU-Woodchucks)  The Wisconsin Woodchcks improved to 9-1 in the second half of the Northwoods League season by beating the La Crosse Loggers Sunday evening at Athletic Park. The winning rn in the 5-4 decision scored on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 9th inning. It's the Woodchuck's 6th walk-off win of the year, and their 4th against La Crosse.

Both teams remained deadlocked at zero heading into the bottom of the third until Brendon Hayden slapped a shot to left-center field bringing around J.D. Davis from second to earn the first run of the night.

However, Jack Fischer, and the Woodchuck defense would run into trouble in the sixth inning.

The Loggers would earn their first run on an error by second basemen Jake Peter, scoring Steven Pallares from second. The very next batter would then double to right field, advancing Matt Chapman, and Bobby Juan to second and third.

The Jake Peter error was a precursor to Richard Prigatano as he singled to right field scoring Bobby Juan and Matt Chapman as the Loggers would take the 3-1 lead in the sixth inning.

Anxious for a run, the Woodchucks swung away to cut the Loggers two run deficit as Skyler Ewing would single to left field, scoring Brendon Hayden, and suddenly made the game a whole lot more interesting heading into the top of the ninth inning down by one.

Austin Stadler would come into the ball game in the eighth inning, and shut down the side, however that wouldn’t be the case in the ninth.

Opening the inning, Richard Prigatano who went 3-4 homered to deep center field adding to the Loggers lead.

The rest of the side would go down quietly as the Woodchucks set up shop in attempt for their sixth walk off of the year down by two.

Madison Carter would start things off with a lead off single to put the tying run on base against Jonathan Van Eaton.

The very next batter, Jake Peter would get on by an error on shortstop Matt Chapman putting the go-ahead run at the plate, as Brad McKewon would step up.

Brad McKewon would then stroll to first on a bases loaded walk with no one out sending Gage Green out to the plate.

An error on second basemen Brenden Farney would cut the deficit to just one, with still nobody out as Mike Bernal would give it a try to send the Woodchucks on their way to another walk off victory.

Bernal would then single to shortstop TYING the game at four a piece with still nobody out and bases loaded.

Both J.D. Davis, and Brendon Hayden would groundout on a fielders choice, quickly adding two outs, with bases still loaded.

With the winning run just 90 feet away from another Woodchuck walk off victory, Skyler Ewing would return on a full count and walk to win the ball game 5-4 on Sunday night.
