Jerrod Niemann burst onto the country scene in 2010 with his left-of-center album Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury .  That project was a concept album with cinematic vignettes in between the songs.  Jerrod's sophomore project, Free the Music , is due out October 2, and he says it's a concept record of a different kind.

Jerrod explains, "The concept is more textural and adding horns and some of these other acoustic instruments and harmonies and kind of taking from some classic rock tones."

Free the Music features more focus than the organized chaos found on Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury.

"I just didn’t want it to be too much going on with a bunch of craziness in between the songs," Jerrod says.  "So there’s a little bit of stuff, but for the most part, it’s just the textures and layers inside the album."

The new single from Jerrod, "Shinin' on Me," is now climbing the country chart and will be included on Free the Music.
