Trace Adkins has been visiting with military heroes across the country this summer for his new show on GAC, Great American Heroes. He's been thinking about doing a show like this for a few years now to shine a light on people who have served their country.

Trace tells Bakersfield, CA NBC affiliate KGET , "It just came from traveling around the country and meeting people who do selfless acts of kindness. I just thought, someone should give them a pat on the back."

So far, Trace has met with heroes in Bakersfield and Fall River, MA, according to that town's Herald-News .

Great American Heroes will premiere this fall on GAC.
