WAUSAU, Wis (Woodchucks-WSAU) The Woodchucks struggled once again, falling to the Green Bay Bull Frogs 6-1, and sinking one more game behind the Bullfrogs in the Northwoods League South.
The Bullfrogs struck first in the fourth inning when Ransom LaLonde singled to left off of Woodchucks pitcher, Jake Peter, scoring Justin Seager from second base.
The Woodchucks put one on the board to tie in the fourth inning with an Eric Filia- Snyder single to score Joe Serrano from second base with two gone.
In the fifth inning, The Bullfrogs struck again with another RBI single. This time, Mac Acker singled to center, out of the reach of Brooks Braga, and scored catcher Chris Hoo to regain the 2-1 lead.
Reliving Jake Peter, Austin Stadler came in to pitch and allowed the Bullfrogs to add some insurance runs in the sixth inning. From there, things started rolling downhill for the Woodchucks.
The Bullfrogs began, scoring two more runs on a Chris Hoo double to right-center field bringing in Ransom LaLonde and Jason McMurray. The inning wasn’t over yet however. Collin Shaw singled to center field scoring Hoo to post a 5-1 lead after a pitching change to start the inning. A big three run inning on four consecutive hits slowed the momentum of the game for the Woodchucks offensively.
Of course it’s hard to score runs when you can’t put wood on the ball as Zak Hermans was absolutely dealing Tuesday night at Athletic Park. Hermans through six innings struck out ten and allowed just one run in in his outing, stunning the ‘Chucks offence still trailing 5-1.
As the sun began to go down, so did the Woodchucks time, unable to put any runs on the board as the Bullfrogs tagged yet another run off of another Chris Hoo single-his third single, and third RBI of the night that came in the eighth inning.
The Woodchucks play in Green Bay today. Game coverage begins at 4pm on Fox Sports 1390.
