STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) The long time head of the water and sewer department in Stevens Point is retiring. Kim Halverson has worked for the city for 35 years. She'll leave in July, giving the city nearly 6 months to find her replacement.
She's the mother of mayor Andrew Halverson. She held her post long before her son became mayor.
Kim Halverson was involved in one controversy during her son's re-election campaign last year. Her department responded incorrectly to an open records request, and released information about past-due water and sewer bills from candidate Mike Wiza. It turns out the bills are not considered public records. She said her department made an honest mistake.
Halverson began working for the city in 1977, and became director in 2004.
