RHINELANDER, Wis. (WSAU) – A former Rhinelander car dealership accountant has pled no contest to charges she embezzled thousands of dollars from a bank.
Christine Swan entered the plea yesterday to an amended charge. The charge carries a maximum six year sentence. Prosecutors say they won’t recommend anything higher than the sentence recommended in a pre-sentence investigation.
Prosecutors also dismissed a theft from business setting charge. But a judge can consider that charge when Swan is sentenced April 18th. She faces paying more than $1,800 in restitution.
Swan admitted submitting fake floor plans to M-and-I Bank, asking for financing of cars on the lot at Crossroads USA car dealership. The owner of the dealership did not know about the fraud. He reported Swan to police last May.
