WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Wausau East swimmer Billy Brebrick won two medals at the WIAA state Swim meet over the weekend. Brebrick was second in the 100 yard butterfly and third in the 50 yard freestyle. Madison Memorial won the state title.

 

Olivia Wendt of DC Everest won two medals at the State Alpine Championships. She took home first place in the boardercross and snowboard GS. Olivia Swift of Wausau West took thrid in the Super G.

 

The Wausau West girls curling team finshed second at the state meet. The Warriors won their pool going 3-0 and beat Portage in the semi-finals before falling to to Medford 7-5. The member sof the team were Melissa Sandquist, Alanna Witter, Calla Buttke, Michaela Gunesor and Dani Tingo.

 

A large group of area wrestlers won sectional matches and earned trips to state. Wausau West will be sending six including Dylan Detert, Bee Lor, Joe Umlauf, Nate Hettinga, Travis Hettinga and Colin Baine. Also qualifying were Ray Paul, Tyler Schmidt, Mason Reinhart, David Pophal, Noah Lassa & Grant Collins of Merrill...Mitch Hertel  and Justin Sternweis of Marshfield...and Alex Spatz of DC Everest

In D-2 state qualifiers include Jordan Roosa of Mosinee, Payton DuPlayee of Tomahawek, Levi Joswiak, George White Wing  & Bobby Utecht of Witt/Birn and Bryce Lamont of Nekoosa/Port Edwards.

In D-3 the qualifiers include Zach Lemmer & Dylan Willemssen of Athens, Judd Gross & Mike Franke of Marathon and Devin Lemanski, Luke Nowak, Brandon Manecke, Anthony Lemanski & Matt Nowak of Edgar.
