WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) A man who led robbed two taverns in the Wausau area last year was found guilty yesterday after three hours of jury deliberations. 27-year-old Branden Richter was convicted of two counts of armed robbery. He could get up to 80-years in prison when he's sentenced early next year.
An accomplice told investigators that Richter planned the hold-ups at Cliffhangers in Schofield and Piggy's Pub in Marathon. 26-year-old Mariano Valera is also facing trial for the robberies. His case is still pending.
The robberies came during a crime spree that was six robberies or attempted robberies in a month. Other suspects are responsible for the other hold-ups.
