WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - A Wausau man accused of being a serial burglar has spent over a year in custody, unable to stand trial.
44-year-old James R. Bickle has been declared competent to stand trial. That ruling made yesterday by Marathon County Judge Michael Moran. Moran found him incompetent nearly 13 months ago, since he was unable to assist his attorney and claimed he was hearing voices in his head.
Bickle is charged with burglary, criminal damage to property and two counts each of obstructing and resisting an officer. He was apprehended by a Wausau gun store after being tased.
Attorneys and the court have not set Bickle’s next court appearance date. He remains held on a $10,000 cash bond.
