Jennings Doesnt Expect To Return To Packers

Green Bay Packers' wide receiver Greg Jennings celebrates a touchdown in the second half of their NFL football game against the Atlanta Falc

GREEN Bay, Wi (WSAU) Green Bay Packers’ receiver Greg Jennings says it’s an “educated guess” that he won’t be back with the team next year. The seventh-year pro is in the final year of his current contract – and the Packers have made no visible effort to re-sign him.

Jennings told the “N-F-L Double Coverage Podcast” that he’d be back in a heartbeat if it was his choice – but he said the Packers are going to do what’s best for them. Jennings says he still hopes he’s in Ted Thompson’s and Mike McCarthy’s plans – but if not, he wants to show the other 31 teams his resume and quote, “walk into the door and start back over.”

It’s been a rough contract year for Jennings, who sat out more than two months after having surgery on an abdominal tear that spurred from a groin injury. He suffered that injury on September 30th, after scoring a touchdown against New Orleans. The Packer offense kept humming along with receivers Jordy Nelson, James Jones, and Randall Cobb.

Jennings returned December second against Minnesota – and last week against Chicago, he caught four passes for 50 yards. Jennings says he’s quote, “coming in a little late to the party” and he hopes to be a force during the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.
