STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -  The tentative 3-year Portage County Ambulance agreement has gained the approval of Stevens Point’s City Council.  So says Mayor Andrew Halverson.  He says, "The Ambulance Contract was approved.  I believe there was one decenting vote and there were no comments relating to that decenting vote.  It passed 10-1."

The Village of Amherst also considered the contract at last night’s board meeting, but we have no confirmation of their vote as of this publication time.

The Ambulance Contract now goes before the Portage County Board of Supervisors Tuesday December 18th at 5:00 p.m.

Stevens Point also unanimously approved the Metro Fire Automatic Aid agreement, which allows them to respond to emergencies with other departments including Plover.
