STEVENS POINT, WI (UWSP) - A UW-Stevens Point senior will participate in the Aztec Bowl. Wideout Theo Maglio (Wautoma, WI/Wautoma), fresh off an impressive season in which he recorded a team-best 66 receptions, has been selected to participate in the Aztec Bowl XL, scheduled for Friday in Monterrey, NL Mexico.
Maglio will represent the Team USA All American Eagles as they will take on ONEFA All Stars from the Mexico University system. Forty-two players from 32 NCAA Division II and III colleges and universities comprise the Eagles' roster.
Maglio was named a D3football.com All-West Region team after leading the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with 105.9 receiving yards per game and ranked third in the league with 66 total receptions. He also ranked fourth in all-purpose yards per game (125.0) and sixth in total scoring touchdowns (8). His best performance of the 2012 campaign was against La Crosse in the home-opener, where he caught eight passes for 201 yards and a score.
The Aztec Bowl is a small college postseason bowl game that has been played intermittently since at least 1950. More information about the Aztec Bowl can be found here.
