WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI  (WSAU)  -  Wisconsin Rapids police have arrested three women for prostitution. The suspects are 47-year-old Jennifer Barger, 37-year-old Maria C. Smith, and 25-year-old Markesha Green. They are not from the Wisconsin Rapids area.

Lieutenant Joel Flewellen said an undercover investigation began when they received a report about “escort activity” being offered on the Internet.  Flewellen said undercover officers pretended to be customers last weekend, and the three women voluntarily came to a hotel room where they were then arrested.

He said this case ties in with a separate investigation into Pandering and Prostitution charges they have been working on.

Police Chief Kurt Heuer has sent the investigation reports to the Wood County District Attorney’s office for formal charging.
