JACKSON, Wis (WSAU) Contamination was found yesterday in another water well near the place where a gasoline pipeline broke a month-and-a-half ago near Jackson. Officials now say 24 private wells have been polluted – mostly by the fuel chemical benzene.
Over 54,000 gallons were spilled during the pipeline break. The latest contaminated well is located in a place whether the D-N-R urged people to use their water only for flushing toilets. The West Shore Pipeline Company has taken a number of steps to help the residents, and is using special equipment to clean up the water.
