WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - Expect more new business construction in Wausau soon. Several plans were sent on to the City Council during a Plan Commission meeting yesterday.
Most discussion centered around building plans for a restaurant with a drive through window next to Walgreens by Stewart Avenue. Commissioners approved the proposal for the unnamed restaurant despite concerns about high traffic volumes.
CVS Pharmacy has an aggressive timetable for developing a new location at 102 Central Bridge Street. Commissioners approved the developer's plan contingent on giving Wausau an opportunity to relocate two historic buildings presently on the property after the purchase is complete. Due to the proposed construction schedule, this item will be brought to a special meeting of the City Council August 28th.
City planners also forwarded approved proposals to the council's September 11th meeting for a new Kwik Trip next to Menards at 2800 Stewart Avenue, and a new Subaru location for Kocourek Auto near other dealerships at 2600 North 20th Avenue.
