WESTON, Wis. (WSAU) - Everest Metro police announced last night that they've made several arrests in connection with a string of church burglaries over the past week.
Chief Wally Sparks says 19-year-old Dustin Groff of Rothschild, 18-year-old Ryan Hull of Weston, 18-year-old Derik Kraft of Ringle and 18-year-old Collin Pfingsten of Rothschild all face multiple counts of burglary and attempted burglary. Several of the men also face various drug charges in the case.
EMPD officers along with the Rothschild Police department and Marathon County deputies arrested the four men late Friday night and early Saturday morning, and searched several hotel rooms in Rothschild. They say they have evidence linking the men to the burglaries, including items taken from the churches.
The six churches hit were New Hope Community Church in Easton, St. Marks in Rothschild, Mount Olive Lutheran in Weston, Bethany Baptist in Weston, Highland Community in Weston, and St. Agnes in Weston.
No formal charges have yet been made against the men. They could make their initial appearances on Monday.
