WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) Central Wisconsin native Jordan Zimmermann of the Washington Nationals was named the National League’s pitcher-of-the-month. The former U-W Stevens Point right-hander from Auburndale had an E-R-A of just point-97 in six starts for the Nationals in July, giving up four earned runs in 37 innings.
Zimmermann had four wins, tied for the most in the league. One of those victories came last Saturday night over the Brewers in Milwaukee.
Zimmermann worked at least six innings in each of his July starts. He struck out 31 batters and walked only four, while giving up one homer. For the season, Zimmermann is 8-and-6 with a two-point-two-eight E-R-A.
