In her new sitcom Malibu Country , Reba plays a woman who experiences culture shock when she moves her family from Nashville to Los Angeles.  It's nothing Reba hasn't lived through in real life though.  She went through the same thing in 2001 when she relocated to L.A. to start work on her first sitcom Reba .  In fact, some of Reba and her family's real-life experiences may end up in the scripts for Malibu Country.

In a recent panel discussion at the Television Critics Association meeting, Reba described one of those awkward L.A. situations involving her husband Narvel and son Shelby .  Reba had to tape her sitcom on the same night as a back-to-school event at Shelby's upscale school.  All the parents had to bring their own dinners.

Reba says, "Narvel had a couple of bologna sandwiches in a paper sack and went to the country club-looking school campus and here comes everybody with their ice coolers and caviar and tablecloths."

Narvel was pretty embarrassed by the situation.

"They kind of put their paper sacks underneath the park bench and went over there and played football until it was OK to leave," Reba explains.  "So, it was little things like that that was a huge adjustment for us coming to L.A."

Reba and Narvel have adjusted to the Los Angeles lifestyle quite well in the decade since they first put down roots there.  Reba's new sitcom Malibu Country premieres November 2 on ABC.
