GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) Green Bay Packers’ linebacker Erik Walden was given a one-game suspension yesterday for violating the N-F-L’s personal conduct policy. He was arrested for a physical dispute with his live-in girlfriend just hours after the Packers returned home from a victory at Detroit last Thanksgiving.
He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor domestic abuse charge. He’ll be suspended for the Packers’ regular season opener against San Francisco – if he makes the team, that is.
Walden is fighting to keep his spot on the roster, as first-round draft choice Nick Perry has the inside track as a starter at outside linebacker opposite Clay Matthews. Brad Jones and promising free agent rookie Dezman Moses are also in the mix.
Walden signed a one-year contract with Green Bay this spring for 725-thousand dollars and no signing bonus.
