WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Marathon County Solid Waste will tell you where to put it! Your trash, that is.
A new campaign launched this month aims to inform residents that the department is more than just the landfill, according to director Meleesa Johnson. “Invariably we get calls of 'what do I do with...'” And Johnson says there are more options and more ways to handle all the stuff in your house than just tossing it away.
A gallery of images depicts a home crammed with things, and Johnson says it's a way to show off their goal of handling the things you don't need or don't want anymore. “Everything from the photo campaign was pulled from a dumpster or the landfill.” The trash ranges from simple boxes to machines to old oil and paint, and all of it can be handled by the department.
Johnson says their goal is to try to remediate and recycle everything they can before it goes into a dumpster. “Some of this stuff still has some use to somebody, and we can help you find it.” They already take old paint to donate to local charities and Habitat for Humanity. Other recyclables include old oil and used waste paper.
The department tapped local ad group Flapjack for the campaign which made its debut this month.
