INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WIBQ)  --  The Department of Defense said a Hoosier soldier was killed as he served in Afghanistan last week. Officials said 36-year-old Spc. Scott D. Smith died Friday of injuries suffered in a noncombat-related incident in Khowst province in eastern Afghanistan. The Department of Defense says Smith was serving with the 81st Troop Command.
