MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Wisconsin lawmaker says he wants a wrong-way driver accused in a fatal crash to be kicked out of the country.
Josh Zepnick says taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for the trial for Leopoldo Salas Gayton, who has admitted he’s in this country illegally.
Salas Gayton faces 2 counts of homicide by intoxicated use of avehicle and one count of operation without a license while causing death. He’s accused of driving the wrong way in westbound lanes on I-94 last New Year’s Day, hitting 34-year-old Corrie Damske’s vehicle and causing her death.
Salas Gayton allegedly had a blood-alcohol level nearly double the legal limit at .145.
