MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s largest city has had 10 babies killed this year in sleeping environments that were not safe. The Milwaukee County medical examiner announced the latest death this afternoon. A 10-day-old girl died early yesterday, after sleeping with two other children and her 13-year-old aunt who was baby-sitting her. The teen told investigators she slept next to the baby girl, who was found dead by her grand-parents when they came home around 4 a.m.. A 49-year-old woman was also in the house – but officials said she was sleeping in another room when the incident occurred. The infant’s mother is 22. Milwaukee officials have a campaign to try-and-reduce infant deaths caused by co-sleeping, or letting them sleep face down in cribs.
