MERRILL, Wis. (WSAU) – A sentencing hearing has been set for January 23rd for the Wausau man convicted of killing his mother last year.
Chase Boruch faces a mandatory life prison sentence. Lincoln County Judge Glenn Hartley must decide whether Boruch should ever be eligible for release on extended supervision.
A jury deliberated for nearly three hours last month before finding Boruch guilty of causing Sally Pergolski's death on June 6, 2010.
Boruch said he found Pergolski unconscious on the floor of her living room and staged her drowning at Moraine Lake to collect on her life insurance. But prosecutors say Boruch actually killed his mother and staged her death to look like an accident.
