Wausau, Wi (WSAU) Thousands of local children have ridden the merry-go-round at Marathon Park in the last 50 years. Now the iconic ride has been sold and will be moved to a nursery in Marathon City. Chip Winter, the owner of Marathon Junction has had the business for sale for some time as he is looking to retire. He hasn't been able to find anyone interested in running the carousel, train and concession stand so he decided to sell the individual parts if he could. The carousel has been purchased by Robert and Traci Schumacher of Marathon City and they will move it to Schumacher's Family Tree Nursery . According to Schumacher they had been looking for one and decided to keep this one in the area.  Marathon County, along with local foundation grants agreed to purchase the miniature train and keep in running in the park. The last ride on the carousel at Marathon Park will happen on Sunday June 13th at 4pm.
