Students at Marion High School have the opportunity to choose three different music classes; Band, Choir, and General Music.

Students in the Marion High School band all participate as members of the Marion High School Concert Band, Marching Band, and Pep Band. A jazz band is also offered outside of the school day. There are currently 51 students enrolled in the 2010-2011 Marion High School Band. The band is directed by Mr. Tim Gast who is currently starting his 14th school year at Marion High School.

Students in the Marion High School Choir participate in concerts and solo and ensemble contests throughout the year. The choir is directed by Mr. Randy Weddig.

In the last ten years, the band and choir programs have taken musical trips to Minneapolis, MN; Orlando, FL; St. Louis, MO, San Antonio/Houston, TX, and Cleveland OH. They have performed at nationally recognized venues such as: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Johnson Space Center, and Universal Studios.

  • Marion Jazz Band has advanced to State Solo and Ensemble Competition 10 out of the last 13 years.

Other Details

Marion High School is a small school which gives students opportunities in many areas. In larger schools students are forced to choose between excelling in sports, academics, or music. Here at Marion High School our students have the opportunity to excel in all. These diverse experiences will follow Marion High School Alumni the rest of their lives.
