Painful Dominance

by Tom King

When the Milwaukee Brewers play most of the teams in the National League you feel pretty confident that they will compete well and have a chance to win. They swept the defending champs from San Francisco earlier this season as an example. And then there are the St. Louis Cardinals. For some reason, the Brewers can't solve the Cardinals with or without Albert Pujols and Tony La Russa. The games don't seem as confrontational now that former Brewer Mike Matheny is at the helm but the results are mostly the same. The Cardinals swept a four game series this weekend and it wasnt pretty especially for the Brewer pitchers, Whether its Henderson & Axford or Estrada & Peralta, the Cardinal hitters feasted. The Brewers have a day off to re-group before hosting Texas for a quick 2-game interleague series. They then face a 10 game road trip that finishes up in St. Louis May 17-19th. We'll see if anything changes by then.

Lebron James became the fifth player to ever win 4 MVP awards. He joins a pretty select company which includes Jordan, Jabber, Russell & Chamberlain. Lebron is playing the game at another level right now...scoring, rebounding, defense & passing as well as anyone in the game. It will be tough for anyone to dethrone the Heat.

There are usually only a handful of drivers that have a chance any given week to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup race. David Ragan isnt one of them. But Talladega is different and yesterday Ragan won and his teammate David Gilliland finished second for the underfunded Furniture Row Racing Team. It's good once in awhile to see the little guys win one.

I'm going to be reminding you this week about our big Wausau American Legion Baseball fundraiser.
