Heat Of The Moment Or Something More?

by Tom King

Star soccer player Luis Suarez is facing a possible international suspension for his actions in a game at the World Cup yesterday. Suarez, a member of the Uruguay national team, is accused of biting Gorgio Chiellini of Italy on the shoulder during the match. This isnt the first time the player as done this although he wasnt penalized or ejected from yesterdays game. He claims it was a heat of the moment thing when the Italian player thrust his shoulder into his mouth. There is a photo of Suaraz sitting on the pitch holding his teeth and also a picture of the bite marks on Chiellini's shoulder. It would be easier to believe Suarez' account if there wasnt a past record of similar actions. His nickname is "The Cannibal" for crying out loud. This certainly doesnt rise to the level of Tyson-Holyfield but expect a lengthy ban...which could be up to 2 years.

The NBA draft situation has become alot more interesting after yesterdays news that Lebron James is opting out of the final two years of his contract with Miami and becoming a free agent. He's leaving 42 million dollars on the table but will certainly command even more as the best player in the NBA. He joins Carmelo Anthony as two very attractive free agents now avilable which makes Thursday's draft very important for several teams.

If you didnt stay up late , the Brewers let one get away and lost to Washington 4-2 in 16 innings. Anthony Rendon tied the game with a solo homer in the 8th inning and Ryan Zimmerman won it in the 16th with a two-run shot. The two teams finish their series this afternoon.

The Woodchucks bounced back and beat Madison 7-2 Paul DeJong and Nate Mondou combined for six hits and five rbi's in the victory. The two teams play again tonight at Warner Park in Madison. You can hear the game on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9.
