Mindy McCready's boyfriend David Wilson died Sunday Jan. 13.  Wilson was a songwriter and producer and only 34.  He was also the father of McCready's 9-month-old son.  No cause of death has been released.

"David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne," McCready writes in a statement. "He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father. David loved and he was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David, missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man."

McCready and Wilson welcomed their son Zayne last April. McCready has a son, Zander, from her previous relationship with singer/songwriter Billy McKnight.

Wilson has been credited wtih helping McCready through many tumultuous times in her life. It was inside his Arkansas home where authorities found McCready hiding with Zander after a week-long search for the two in December of 2011. She had taken her son from Florida, where he was living with her parents, who had legal custody at the time. Wilson was by McCready's side through the subsequent custody battle over Zander.
