Having to cancel a concert sucks for everyone involved, but sucks worse when lawsuits are involved! Taylor Swift is being sued over money she reportedly received for a Canadian festival performance that never took place.
TMZ is reporting thatTaylor was fronted $2.5 million to perform at the Capital Hoedown in Ottawa last August. It was an event that was canceled before it took place organizers said was due to zoning problems and higher-than-expected costs.
In a lawsuit filed in federal court in New York, the ticket company that had to refund $1.8 million in tickets for the festival is suing Taylor to cover those refund costs.
A rep for Taylor tells TMZ that she never had a deal with the ticket company and hasn't even seen the lawsuit yet.
Sounds ridiculous to me. If you book a show but have to cancel it because you aren't prepared for the problems and costs, it is your loss, don't play the entertainer.
