Keith Urban is playing the peacemaker on the American Idol judges panel this season, and he's fine with that role. Fellow judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were caught having an intense disagreement on Tuesday in a video posted on TMZ.com, a disagreement that Keith experienced from both sides, sitting between the two stars.

Urban tells the Associated Press, "We're all passionate people and we're learning a new dance and we're all a work in progress."

Keith goes on to say that everyone is getting along on the panel, including veteran judge Randy Jackson.  As for sitting between Mariah and Nicki, Keith says with smile he has the "best seat in the house."

The new season of American Idol premieres in January.
