Kellie Pickler had a hand in writing several songs on her latest album, 100 Proof, but being a songwriter didn't come easy to her at first. Once she began writing from her heart, though, Kellie got the hang of it.

"It's kind of like writing a diary. When you're writing in a diary, you write your most personal, intimate, truthful thoughts," Kellie tells the Merced Sun-Star. "It's between you and your diary. Then you just pull from that and there's your song. Chances are, there are millions of other people going through the same thing."
